Description
Simhasana, or Lion Pose, involves kneeling and stretching, named for its resemblance to a lion’s roar. Here’s how to do it:
- Start in a Kneeling Position: Start kneeling on yoga mat with hips-width apart knees.
- Hands-on Your Knees: Rest palms on knees, fingers spread wide, pressing firmly against them.
- Inhale Deeply: Take a deep breath in through your nose, filling your lungs with air.
- Exhale Forcefully: Open mouth wide, stick out tongue, and exhale strongly, making “ha” sound like a lion’s roar.
- Gaze Upward: Exhale, gaze upward between eyebrows or slightly above, eyes wide open.
- Engage Your Facial Muscles: Exhale, wrinkle forehead, flare nostrils, and widen eyes to engage facial muscles.
- Hold the Pose: Hold the pose, breathing deeply, maintaining lion-like expression.
- Release: Release the facial expression, return to neutral, relax hands on knees.
- Repeat: Repeat typically for about 3-5 rounds.
